It is a regrettable fact that we are surrounded by many in our lives that are all talk when it comes to a great friendship. Often, they can have a sort of magnetic attraction about them. We all want to associate with them because their lives seem full of glory and glamour.
Yet, in our time of need, when we are struggling or broken, they are nowhere to be seen. As long as things are good, it’s all.
But true mateship requires a willingness to act when things don’t seem right. To lean into difficult times rather than dismiss them. To ask a mate are you doing okay, then to listen to the answer and share in the arduous journey. How wonderful it would be if our lives were full of friends who didn’t just talk about being there through thick and thin but actually were.
