You see, we are all part of one great continent. If a mate in general suffers, we cannot isolate ourselves from it. We are in it together. It is true that we can’t assume responsibility for everyone - there are limits on what we can do with them and for them. But we mustn’t use it as an excuse to cut ourselves off from those mates around us.
Even doing the smallest things, a call, a text, a beer together can have a big impact on others. I’m reminding myself today that we belong together. That we are interdependent. That we affect each other for good or ill.
As much as this culture around us often pushes us towards individualism, we must mutually belong. We are after all, continents and not islands.
