#FridayFacts. Spectacular success is always proceeded by unspectacular preparation.

Scarcely a day goes by without seeing a post about amazing greatness or achievement. In a world full of brokenness and tragedy it’s encouraging and inspiring to read of such acts, many against the odds.

The problem is that we stop reading at the headline. You see, an act of triumph is an event, whereas success is a process. And that process is generally hard going, and against our ingrained desire for the ‘instant hero’. Being a hero on game day is a piece of cake compared with months or years of every day challenging and mundane preparation.

There’s no easy road and I need to remind myself that spectacular success is always proceeded by unspectacular preparation!
