#FridayFacts. You’ve got to know when to fold ‘em.
As men, we're pretty good at keeping our cards close to our chest. It's come with lots of practice. After all, we've been told ever since we could walk 'don't let them see you cry' and plenty of times between then and now to 'toughen the F#$% up'.
But in the words of the late Kenny Rogers, ‘you’ve got to know when to fold ‘em’. You see, sharing your cards, no matter how good or bad they are, with those around you allows them to share in both your triumphs and tragedies. And by removing judgement and stigma that still too often is associated with men sharing their feelings, allows us all to share and celebration our wins without boasting, and even more importantly our struggles without a declaration of weakness.
So next time somebody asks you 'how are you feeling?' show them your cards and let them show you theirs - you might be surprised by the embrace that follows.
